Ashley Lajoie holding an OuT of the Box occupational therapy box

In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic introduced new challenges to traditional therapy services, Ashley LaJoie, MOT, OTR/L recognized an opportunity to support families in a different way. Drawing from her clinical expertise as an Occupational Therapist and her real-life experience as a parent, she created OuT of the Box—a product that provides thoughtfully curated, therapeutic activities directly to families’ homes.

While OuT of the Box is not a replacement for occupational therapy, each box includes carefully selected activities designed to support general developmental areas such as fine motor skills, visual-motor coordination, sensory processing, and overall functional development. Every box also includes a Skill Card outlining targeted developmental goals and an Instructional Card offering therapist-approved activity adaptations.

The Mission Behind OuT of the Box

Ashley’s mission is simple: to take the guesswork out of finding meaningful, play-based activities—so families can spend less time planning and more time connecting, playing, and supporting their child’s development.
